DARRICK WOOD SCHOOL, LEKNATH, NEPAL
SHIVA Charity... promoting education in Nepal and Sri Lanka
Thanks to Darrick Wood School in Kent, its namesake in Nepal is improving every year. In the year 2000 it was a simple concrete block building, with mud floors. Now it has been plastered and painted, the floors concreted, and the children have a much more pleasant environment in which to learn. They enjoy lessons, and visits to places they would not normally be able to afford to go. This is a poor farming community area, where many children would be taken out of school and put to work with no education. Because of child sponsorship from the parents of DWS in the UK, this does not happen. Crofton Rotary also funded a magnificent computer centre!

This was the first school SHIVA Charity bult in Nepal. Founded by Deepak Aryal, one of our Trustees, who worked tirelessly to help these poor children, some of whom would never have had an education without his help and inspiration.
