IDENTIFYING NATIONAL FLAGS AND COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD
A flag is a piece of cloth, often flown from a pole or mast, with special colours and designs, usually to represent a country, place, or group of people. The first flags were used in battle and were very important to the soldiers.
1) Print these two pages of flags to colour, by clicking below!
2) Use a colour printer to make copies of the coloured flags by clicking here!
3) Print and photocopy (one for each student) the outline map of the world. Also they design their own flag on this page!
Students should colour in flags correctly, identify where the countries are on the world map. Teachers should have a world map wall chart on which the students stick cut outs of flags they have coloured in. Lastly they design a flag for their local area or group/ family name.
SHIVA Charity (UK) puts these free educational pages on its web site in order to be used primarily in Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Darjeeling, India, where lessons are mostly repetitive "chalk and talk" and curriculum restrained. We are involved in teachers' resources training there, and hope that schools in the UK and elsewhere will support SHIVA Charity's cause with funding. Please visit our main pages to see the work we do, and how we raise money for individual projects and for child sponsorship.
