Put a table in the classroom and ask the children to collect as many empty cartons of things bought in shops. Give them a week or so until you have a good collection, and neatly label them with price stickers. Hand out the toy money to the "customers" and appoint one or two children as "shopkeepers".
1) Ask the customers to give the correct money for items.
OR 2) Give change to the shopkeepers and let them sort out change, etc.
Toy money can be a very useful resource in the classroom for the times table, and for addition and subtraction.
