SHIVA Charity Teachers' Resources Training Nepal

SHIVA Charity was able to open a resources training centre in Nepal this year, so that teachers could have access to creative ideas and resources. We rented and furnished two rooms in Banepa, printed an introductory booklet (with a CD), and invited teachers to come and look at some of our "lessons". Our aim is to be able to provide teachers with appropriate resources as they need them. SHIVA Charity is in touch with more than 40 schools in the area through the "FAST" Appeal, so we need to help at least 100 teachers a year and so improve the education of at least 6000 children annually. Materials include coloured paper, card, pencils, pens, scissors, glue, educational toys and equipment, and laminating and printing facilities. Our SHIVA Charity trainers are keen to implement this project for many years to come.

Booklets are being produced to assist the training sessions. So far we have printed Booklet 1, which acts as an introduction to creative lessons at all levels, and Booklet 2 for Nursery and Kindergarten Level. Booklet 3 will concentrate on Mathematics. We hope to print at least 6 booklets by the end of next year. Each booklet is accompanied by a CD with extra printable resources and lessons. Schools that have a computer, printer and laminator will be able to produce their own creative lessons for many years to come. A computer costs £250, a printer £100, a laminator £100, and ink and paper £50 in Nepal.
