Panauti is small town of 23000 people, and many temples. It was once an important trading route, and had a royal palace. This Newar settlement is situated at the junction between the Roshi and Pungmati river, and so a place of religious significance to Hindus. It is said that "the wise" also see a third invisable river "Padmabati" at the confluence point.
In the photos, a class and two staff from St Michael's School, near the neighbouring town of Banepa, visit Panauti in order to study its history and culture. They see the famous 15th century Indreshwar Mahadev Temple, the Krishna Narayan Temple, and others, as well as take notes and drawings for their project and for the school magazine.
